Curtain Poles & Tracks - Don't Buy DIY.
This entry was posted 14/02/2011
Curtain Poles and Curtain Tracks are the unsung heroes of our home. We use them every day, they give us privacy when we want it, security, they keep us warm and we barely notice them other than thinking they look good. That is unless something goes wrong.
Let me start by saying that I sell Curtain Tracks and Poles.
I am not independent and I would love to sell a curtain pole to every person who wants one in the entire country, but this is not what this blog is about. I am obviously not going to be able to sell a curtain pole or track to everyone in the country, what I would like to do is to get as many people as possible to stop buying products from people who have little or no technical knowledge on these products and even less about curtains and soft furnishings. Let’s face it I am talking about the DIY outlets that will sell you a curtain pole or track without knowing anything more about the product than what you could discover from reading the instructions on the back of the packet.
Every day I get people calling my company wanting to replace the curtain pole or track they have just purchased for their window with something of a better quality that actually works. Okay not every day but weekly at least. Some of these people have spent a great deal of time and money trying to put up something that was not suitable to start with and because the person at the other end of the phone or in the shop blindly sells what is on the shelf with no concern, you end up wasting your hard earned money. I want to stop this from happening and if you have had experiences like this please leave a comment outlining your experience so that people can see the potential problems. I would also be happy to offer any advice, without obligation, in reply if required.
A curtain pole does so much but is often neglected. It is important to have a good curtain pole but we often do not spend as much time or money on selecting the right curtain pole as we would do with other soft furnishings around the house. We spend ages selecting fabrics for our sofas and curtains, then nip to the local DIY store for a cheap and troublesome pole that takes hours to put up and does not work properly when it is finally fitted. Let’s take some time do some research and invest a little bit more into something that will be used for years.
I will do my part to help this change by putting links to products and services that I know to be good in future blogs (weekly). I am also willing to give an extra 10% discount to anyone who has had the experience with DIY stores and products that I have described. If you are one of those people who have bought a bay window DIY pole only to find it does not work and now want something bespoke made to fit, then just ask for Kris and say “I brought DIY and I don’t know why?” Alternatively if you don’t want to sound foolish just mention this blog.
Until next week please feel free to Contact Me for advice on any window furnishing issues.
